On December 28, 2017, the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Development Center of the Chinese Ministry of Education released the results of the 4th round of the Chinese University Subject Review (CUSR). The CUSR evaluates the academic subjects of universities and colleges in the Chinese mainland.

Of the 50 primary subjects at Peking University, 35 of them were ranked as A-level (A+, A, A-) subjects. At 70%, PKU has the highest proportion of A-level subjects in the country. Altogether, PKU scored 21 A+ subjects, 11 A subjects, and 3 A- subjects for a total of 35 subjects. With 21 A+ subjects, PKU is tied for first in the country.
